studies into the job market- example (HSW Bern) Berne School
of Business and Administration |

The establishment
of universities of applied science in Switzerland has created
a need for information on the positioning of this segment of
the higher education system and how well it functions. This
article presents the results of a preliminary analysis performed
on three cohorts of graduates from the Berne School of Business
and Administration. The study is primarily focused on two questions.
The first is how relevant the graduates consider the ndividual
subjects taught at the school to be for their transition to
the job market; their responses provide an indication of the
curriculum’s adequacy. Secondly, economic indicators are
used to analyze their entry to the job market in order to ascertain
what are the determinants of a successful transition. Both of
these analyses will help us to better understand the transition
from the education system to the job market under specific circumstances,
and thus enable us to say more about how the education system
functions and whether it is functioning properly. |
